Biography
Dr. Nicholas Condon is the Manager of the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory (ACL) in the Chemical and Fuel Cycle Technologies division. As the ACL manager, he oversees efforts to provide a wide range of analytical chemistry support services, specializing in inorganic and radiochemical analyses. He also leads multiple projects, funded by the National Nuclear Security Administration, on the development and implementation of new techniques for safeguards, forensics, and nonproliferation.
Dr. Condon received a B.A. in Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of Colorado in 1996 and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 2001, where he studied a novel laser spectroscopy technique to probe coupled molecular vibrations. Following this, he spent more than a decade at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, where he worked on developing new optical materials and laser sources. He then spent several years at a startup company, developing new laser systems for precision inertial guidance. He joined Argonne in July 2018 and completed the Strategic Laboratory Leadership (SLLP) program in June 2023.
