CodeGirls@Argonne Camp

Think like an Argonne computer scientist

CodeGirls@Argonne Camp brings together 6th and 7th-grade girls to take the first step in exploring what it means to think like an Argonne computer scientist – by programming robots!

Along the way in this free, 3-day program, participants will connect with other girls and solve fun challenges as a team. You’ll also meet inspiring Argonne women scientists who are using code to solve the big challenges of our world, and learn about the awesome role that women have played throughout history in developing technology.

No robotics or coding experience is required, so this is a great opportunity for young girls with no past knowledge of the field to get their first dive into the amazing world of coding, robotics, and science! Start your journey on the science pathway with the camp today!

CodeGirls@Argonne (June 25-27, 2019)

The 2019 application is now closed. Acceptances and waitlist notices will be sent to selected participants in early May. Please visit this page next year to learn about the summer 2020 CodeGirls@Argonne Camp.

Application Requirements

Our summer camp is aimed at current 6th and 7th-grade students (for the 2018-2019 school year) who have little or no experience in programming. Participating students must be available to attend all three days of the camp. The parents or guardians of attendees are responsible for covering travel to and from Argonne.

At this camp, participants will:

  • Develop their problem-solving and teamwork skills.
  • Try out creative and computational thinking like a computer scientist.
  • Interact with other girls interested in science and technology.
  • Learn from women role models about why computer science is a great career for women!

Acceptances with additional information about the camp will be sent to selected applicants within a week of the deadline.
