Postdoctoral Appointee

Engineering Defects in 2D Semiconductor and Insulator

Biography

Dr. Sayantan Mahapatra completed his graduation in Physical Chemistry at the University of Illinois Chicago in Prof. Nan Jiang’s Research group. In his thesis, an exploration is undertaken into the domain of sub-nanoscale interactions between light and matter. Dr. Mahapatra utilized Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and Tip-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (TERS) to probe sub-nanoscale photophysical and photochemical processes.

Following his graduation in 2022, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Northwestern University under the supervision of Sir Fraser Stoddart (2016 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry). Currently, He is working on defect engineering through STM and Plasmonics.
