Argonne showcases its leadership in AI research
Researchers from Argonne National Laboratory participated in the first AI Expo for National Competitiveness, held in Washington, D.C., on May 7–8, 2024.
Valerie Taylor, director of the Mathematics and Computer Science Division, and Venkat Vishwanath, data science team lead at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility, gave three presentations in the U.S. Department of Energy booth:
- “Advancing frontiers in AI for science” (talk)
- “Scaling large language models to understand protein-protein interactions” (demo)
- “Quantum many body physics using AI” (demo)
AI Expo 24 provided a forum for representatives from industry, government and academic research organizations to exhibit some of the latest technological breakthroughs in AI and to discuss the implications for U.S. and allied competitiveness.
