Advanced science and technology to advance science and technology
Argonne maintains a comprehensive suite of research facilities central to the laboratory’s scientific enterprise. From particle accelerators to automotive testbeds, these facilities give Argonne scientists and their collaborators access to tools and techniques found in many instances nowhere else.
The Environmentally Assisted Cracking (EAC) Laboratory uses four autoclave systems to evaluate the resistance of nuclear reactor structural materials to environmentally assisted cracking in simulated LWR coolant environments.
Six corrosion test facilities and two thermogravimetric systems for conducting corrosion tests in complex mixed gas environments, in steam and in the presence of deposits, and five facilities for metal dusting degradation.
